What is Fire Stopping Works?

Fire-stopping works involve installing specialized materials and systems to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and gases through openings in walls, floors, and ceilings. These works are critical in buildings where fire-resistance-rated walls or floors separate different areas, and they help maintain the integrity of these barriers during a fire.

Key components and tasks in fire-stopping works include:

Sealing Openings and Penetrations:

This involves applying fire-resistant materials such as intumescent sealants, fire caulk, and fire-rated foam around openings created by pipes, ducts, conduits, and cables that pass-through fire-rated walls or floors.

Joint Sealing:

Expansion joints and construction gaps within fire-rated barriers are filled with flexible fire-resistant materials to prevent the passage of fire and smoke.

Installing Fire Batts and Boards:

Fire-resistant boards, also known as fire batts, are installed to seal larger openings. They are often combined with fire sealant to create a robust fire-stopping solution, especially where accessibility is limited to one side.

Duct and Cable Fire-Proofing:

For ductwork and cable trays that run between compartments, fire collars or wraps are installed around penetrations to prevent fire from spreading through these vulnerable areas.

Documentation and Compliance:

Proper documentation of fire-stopping installations is crucial for compliance with building codes. This includes photographs, product certifications, and test reports to verify that all materials and installations meet the specified fire-resistance requirements.

Our Services

Penetration Sealing:

We seal any openings created by pipes, conduits, cables, and ducts that pass through fire-rated walls or floors, using fire-resistant materials like intumescent sealants, fire caulks, and fire-rated foam.

Joint Protection:

We fill expansion joints and construction gaps within fire-rated barriers with flexible fire-resistant materials to contain fire and smoke in the event of an emergency.

Fire Batt and Board Installation:

For larger openings or where access is limited to one side, we use fire-resistant boards or fire batts, often in combination with fire sealant, to create a reliable fire-stopping solution.

Duct and Cable Fire-Proofing:

We install fire collars or wraps around ductwork and cable trays to prevent fire and smoke from spreading through these critical systems.

Compliance Documentation: We provide complete documentation, including photographs, product certifications, and test reports, ensuring our installations comply with building codes and meet specified fire-resistance requirements.

Why do you need Fire Safety?

Fire safety is essential because it protects lives, property, and critical infrastructure from the devastating effects of fire. Effective fire safety measures help prevent or slow down the spread of fire, giving occupants time to evacuate safely and firefighters time to respond. Here are some key reasons why fire safety is needed:

Protection of Lives:

Fire safety measures like alarms, fire-stopping systems, and evacuation plans are essential to ensuring that people can exit a building quickly and safely in an emergency.

Property and Asset Preservation:

Fire can cause significant damage to buildings, equipment, and valuable assets. Fire safety systems help limit the spread and impact of fire, reducing the risk of costly damage and loss.

Compliance with Legal Requirements:

Many countries have strict fire safety regulations and building codes that require buildings to meet specific fire-resistance and fire-protection standards. Compliance helps prevent legal liabilities and ensures building safety standards are met.

Minimizing Business Disruption:

For businesses, fire incidents can result in loss of productivity, downtime, and long-term financial setbacks. Fire safety measures help protect business operations by reducing the likelihood and severity of fire incidents
